art studio Sandra L Barnett

My grandmother drew beautiful 1920’s paper dolls for my sisters and I. My dad drew army trucks and planes. I thought I could draw too. So I did!

Throughout the years reading, drawing, painting and creating have been constant in my life, along with gardening and hiking. I love to write and illustrate picture books - combining stories with art - my favorite!

I grew up on a small farm in Oregon’s Willamette Valley where I had many pets including many “farm animals” that became pets. Years later my husband and I lived on that same little farm and raised our 3 kids who also had many pets.

Watercolors, colored pencils and cut-paper collage are my favorite mediums to create with.

About my studio:

My husband built this amazing studio in our yard. In all seasons I spend most days enjoying this creative space of my own. Since we live in Northeast Washington, with long winters, I am really grateful for the heater! There’s nothing cozier than working on an art project while watching the snow fall outside. And there’s nothing happier than hiding in the sunflowers in the summer.
